HandcraftersInformal gathering to work on projects, get help on
sewing, and socialize If you remain in the SCA long enough, you can be sure that eventually you will be touched by the arts and sciences. There are always pieces of garb to make, dayshades to be mended, embroidered gifts to be made, scrolls to be illuminated or some other project that you want to work on. Of course, it's more fun to work on something with your friends, so twice a month the Shire holds Handcrafters, which is simply an evening get-together to work on whatever project you're currently undertaking. It's also a chance to get some help with something if you're just not quite sure how to proceed. And for many people, it's simply an opportunity to come out and socialize. Occasionally, there will be a theme for the evening. For example, if the group is preparing to attend an Elizabethan period event, we may have a Handcrafters or two focused around making Elizabethan garb. Of course, you don't have to work on the themed project, but if you need help in that area, Handcrafters is the perfect time to get it. Currently handcrafters are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month starting at 7:30pm. Contact Karen Oxford for more information. |
