Minutes of February 2000 Populace Meeting
February 22, 2000
With 12 people present, the February Populace Meeting got under way at 7:45 PM on
2/22/00 in the conference room at Parker and DeStefano. It was called to
order by our wonderful Seneschal, Debbie Jo.
New Business
- PBS Fund Drive: Toby discovered that PBS in not broadcast from Charlottesville, but from
Richmond, and they are looking for people to man the phones. We decided to see if we could
have the March 4 slot from 10:30am-4:00pm, since we would only need 4 or 5 people.
Old Business
- Inns of Court: The Red Mountain Inn was a great success, making plans to do it again
next year.
- Sudentur: We never heard back about the event, so we decided not to do that one.
- Caer Gelin: They are planning on having Kingdom War Practice and a Spring Revel on
Saturday, April 29. We will be taking the RMI there, and we will also be selling lunch. At
Handcrafters we will be having an organizational meeting with the people from Caer Gelin.
- Summer University 2000: Having lots of trouble finding a site. We agreed that using
Fluvanna High School as a site would be okay, but we would really prefer Cabell Hall at
the University.
- Pennsic: Trying hard to find a happy-medium between party area/no bad drainage/no desert
plain area. Still trying to locate the perfect area that isn't already taken.
- Silver Anniversary Event: Still looking for the perfect site.
- Hat Fund: Going well, need people who pledged money to get it in.
Officers Reports
(Herald, De Facto Heavy Marshal Absent)
- Chatelaine: Toby has been keeping up with email requests for info. Has
had phone contact with a person from the newspaper "Echo". The calendar postings
are free, and they would like to do a story on us. The Spotswood Demo has been postponed
to April 23, we will be doing this instead of Handcrafters. Decided on one hour slot on
the stage for the Duck Race in May.
- Minister of Arts and Sciences: Trishka has been drowning at work, so
not much new on that front.
- Exchequer: Same as last month. Nothing has changed.
- Dance Master Extraordinare: Dance is good. The graduation will be moved
to March 12, instead of on March 11.
- Rapier: Lucrezia is making tabards and getting info on loaner doublets.
Blue and Gold scarves are also being made for awards. Practice has been going well, and
will give us some ideas for competitions at our Silver Anniversary.
- Archery: Bob and Sally are willing to get the information to get
archery rolling in our shire.
