Minutes of October 2000 Populace Meeting
October 24, 2000

Officers' Reports
- Seneschale - Reports went in on time
- Minister of the Lists (MoL) - John will be warranted by the event.
- Chatelaine - No earth shattering stuff. Report will be a little
late, but that’s okay. Still talking to reporter Montvale way, wants to
deal with us, not them.
- Chronicler - Got a name from my chiropractor, will call the lady
and get some contact information.
- Minister of Arts and Sciences (MoAS) - Everything on hold until
after Event…. working on schedule—NO HANDCRAFTERS ON the 23rd, it will
be moved to the next Thursday, the 30th.
- Fiber Arts - In November we'll be working on blackwork…working
on schedule
- Music - David (Gilbert) and Anne will try to figure out a schedule
after Silver Anniversary.
- Polyphony - New song for event, have 2 pieces prepared.
- Exchequer - We have $$$$ Report mailed.
- Herald: No Show.
- Fighting -
- Rapier Marshal - No practice this week, no practice next week, no
indoor site, November is in library -- in December moving to Thursday
nights. Our knight marshal is leaving. Need a new one – Philip might be
able to take that position in 2 months. FOR SILVER: We will have water for
fighters, day shade, table for MoL, we have cover for rain. Tourney starts
at noon.
- (Acting) Heavy Marshal - Has 2 more events left before
authorization. We have a Count, Knight, Earl Marshall from Midrealm. He has
just moved here. Making lots of armor.
- Archery - Archery is going on on the weekends. Practices will be
held at 3:00.
- Thrown Weapons - Will be doing it on the weekend. Need to
update the event form
- Dance Master - Dec 6, dance & dessert revel at UVa's Student
Activities Building -- wear garb. January 18, don’t have Municipal Arts
Building -- still finding a place.
- Red Mountain Inn (RMI) - Have lots of new coins. Have lots of
blanks we can work on coin at Handcrafters and the event if need be. David
needs help running RMI.
- Minister of Minors (MoM) - Not here. No report
Old Business
- Silver Anniversary Event (10/28/00) -
- Kids fee: 5 and under is free, 6-12 is ½
price.
- We will be supervised all day.
- If you know anyone who hasn’t RSVP'd -- badger
them.
- We will invite the gentleman who did felting with the kids to do
felting with our kids.
- Glowsticks are too expensive.
- We will have
walkie-talkies to stay contact. Toby will bring first aid kit, and several
others will too.
- Volunteers are needed. Please get people who haven’t and
smack them.
- ABC license has passed. We should have it any day now.
- About
60 people so far showing up.
- MoL should be warranted tomorrow.
- Lunch: Basic
lunch, bread, cheese, eggs, sausage for sale, served 11-2.
- Where is Troll?
Down by feast hall.
- How are we going to do parking? Plenty of parking.
- Time
schedule: Court @ 4, Auction @ 5, Feast @ 5:30, Dancing @7, Bardic @
sometime whenever after.
- Gifts and thank-you's: Wendy: Ask Vic; Wenna: Baklava;
Winifred: ?????; Gwen: ?????
- Auction: real money. Will be before feast and court.
- Who is in charge of Palio? Sally is volunteered by David.
- Oakhaven’s Period Evening (11/18/00) - Pavilion VIII on the Lawn
at UVa. There will be a shuttle, since it is a game
day. Date recreating: Nov 18, 1596. Handcrafters right before will be
dedicated to persona development. David will send out information regarding
the time period and that time in history. Possibly serve a light dinner.
- Nothing But Dance (2/17/01) - Charlottesville Municipal Arts
Center.
- Games Tourney (4/21/01) - Debbie Jo will
be asking people to volunteer. Feast for 75-ish people.
- Yard Sale and Revel -
Bob and Sally’s anniversary, June 9, 2001.
- Holiday Party: At Debbie Jo and
Kailo’s, date/time TBA.
