Minutes of April 2001 Populace Meeting
April 24, 2001

We met at Parker & DeStefano in the conference room. About 10 people
in attendance. Meeting got underway in a timely fashion.
Officers' Reports
- Seneschale - reports the quarterly report is almost on its
way.
- Chronicler - absent, no report.
- Herald - absent, no report.
- Exchequer - reports his quarterly report is on the way and
we have money.
- Rapier - Gavin reports not quite so many folk as there have
been.
- Heavy Weapons - Phillip says he has two more events of apprenticeship
and he will be a heavy marshal. Alex has offered to get armor for anyone
in Isenfir, for as long as they remain in Isenfir, as soon as Phillip
can finish his marshaling training.
- Archery - Toby has been researching various types of shoots
for the time he will have become an Archery marshal.
- Castellan - says he's had few contacts this month, however,
Damian, who has just started playing, is coming to Handcrafters and
Dance. Our demo at the Omni is off as is the Harrisonburg demo.
- Minister of Minors (MoM) - was home with the kids.
- Minister of Arts and Sciences (MoAS) - Anne says Fiber Arts
for June is free, and July is hand knotting for beads. This week's Handcrafters
is juggling, thanks to Toby and Josh, May is Summer Garb, June is Heraldry
in practice, July is free because a large portion of the Shire will
be preparing for Pennsic. Anne has asked someone take over the making
of the curtain wall for Pennsic. There are two A&S competitions
this month, but they are both too far for any of us to go to. Anne suggests
that the Shire pay our Dance Master's site fee and lodging ($213) for
the Known World Dance Symposium. Unanimously agreed to. Christine, our
deputy MoAS, says we will be taking some Fiber Arts and Handcrafters
over the mountain. 1st of May will be at Rosecroft, but the 15th will
be at Wayne's in Waynesboro, and the second Handcrafters, 24th, will
be at Wayne's. Christine is asking for items for the Pennsic basket-not
the SNAFU it was the last timeanything appropriate you wish to
make. Deadline is the end of June.
- Polyphony - Njal says we can match what he's heard in the SCA,
we have only to work hard.
- Web - Bryan says the new website is up and running. C.N.(And
it looks good!) Each activity has its own page, some more detailed than
others. These will be embellished as time goes on. He requests everyone
look it over and get back to him with any corrections, omission, things
you want taken off, etc. Toby suggests the individuals who head activities
suggest links to associated sites.
Old Business
- We will be taking the Red Mountain Inn to Caer Galen's Spring Revel
the 28th, as agreed.
- Still looking for a site for Games Tourney.
New Business
- There will be a revel in garb at Phillip's on the 20th of May, about
4:30, and Wayne will be there to oversee thrown weapons. Christine suggests
we make this even more of a family thing by finding period games for
the children and bringing enough food for a late afternoon meal. She
is willing to coordinate food. Also suggests that at we should have
regular get-togethers in garb.
- Phillips says he has been asked to take a demo of heavy fighting
to the Valley. He will contact Wayne and ask him to suggest a site.
- Toby says if you plan to go to 20 year, preregister and soon. The
number the site can support is limited - 1000 -- and if you don't
preregister you will likely not get in if you want to day trip. Toby
is organizing a field kitchen for the event.
- Pennsic. PREREGISTER. Castellan has forms and the booklets those who
were at Pennsic last year should have received, have forms as well.
Contact Toby if you have questions.
Event of the Month
- April - Spring Revel
- May - Atlantian 20th Year Celebration
