Minutes of May 2001 Populace Meeting
May 22, 2001

We met at Parker & DeStefano in the conference room. Seneschale called
the meeting to order nearly on time.
Officers' Reports
- Seneschale - nothing to report.
- Chronicler - in Lucrezias absence, Dolce reports nothing
new.
- Herald - absent, no report.
- Exchequer - we have money.
- Rapier - no rapier report.
- Heavy Weapons - Phillip reports he has completed all the training
and sent off the paperwork to be a Heavy Marshal. Also reports there
are about five folks who wish to learn.
- Archery - we now have a marshal, Toby. He says we need more
targets. The Shire will be on the look out for sales of such.
- Castellan - says Wain would like to do a demo at Gypsy Hill
Park in Staunton. Populace is agreeable, now time must be determined,
so have handed it over to Wain.
- Minister of Minors (MoM) - was home with the kids.
- Minister of Arts and Sciences (MoAS) - reports we have enough
volunteers for the June 20th demo at PVCC. We will practice at the next
Dance Practice, and decide if we need to do more. There will be a fifth
week this month and Eowin and Bryan have graciously offered Rosecroft
Cottage as a site for some sort of activity. Handcrafters this week
will be at Wains in Waynesboro, usual time. The subject will be
Summer Garb. June Handcrafters will be given by our Herald, on Heraldry
in Practice, subtitled, How to flaunt your arms in every way.
- Deputy MoAS - who has charge of nagging, pleading and cajoling
folk to make things for the Pennsic gift baskets, says we are making
rosaries, but we need other things, nearly anything. She also asked
that the Shire pay the cost of the beads for the rosaries, approximately
fifty dollars. Motion made and passed.
- Polyphony - Njal reports we are doing well with our singing,
but we desperately need more voices. Consider it even if you think you
cant sing; hell teach you. Also we will need to set a different
date for the first June Polyphony.
Old Business
- Autocrat -- Debbie Jo -- says Games Tourney is probably going to happen
in October. Stay tuned for further developments.
- The Yard Sale is still on for June 23rd.
- Pennsic: Toby says register early, register often. You have less than
a week. Contact Toby for info. E-mail Toby if you have pre-registered.
He will be instituting a $2 camp fee for those not on the meal plan.
We need to work on the camp wall this summer so it will be ready in
August.
New Business
- Wain suggests a thrown weapons event this winter at Phillips
barn. General agreement, but we need to talk over details.
- Our Seneschale suggests we put in a bid to host Unevent.
- Lucrezia has sent Debbie Jo info about tickets to the play she is
in. D.J. will post it on the list.
- Seneschale says if you have any ideas about working up a historical
display of the Shire for 20 yr. before Friday, let her know.
- MoAS suggest the one free Tuesday we have on our calendar be used
for an informal Handcrafters type meeting at Wains. Idea accepted.
- A motion was made and passed to discuss the problem of a Knight Marshal
next month.
Events of the Month
- May - Atlantian 20th Year Celebration
- June - the D&D Potluck
- July - None suggested.
- August - Pennsic
Submitted by Dolce dei Bracchi for Lucrezia dei Bracchi.
