Minutes of June 2001 Populace Meeting
June 26, 2001

When we decided no one else would attend, our Seneschale called the meeting
to order.
Officers' Reports
- Seneschale - reports quarterly report will go in next week.
Kingdom has sent a financial template. The appropriate officers will
study it, then it will be sent to the Isenlist to be discussed, and
we will vote upon it at the next meeting. Kingdom also suggest we purchase
the Officers Manual published by Corpora. Debbie will look into
the cost and then we will decide.
- Herald - absent.
- Exchequer - reports we still have funds.
- Rapier Marshal - absent.
- Heavy Weapons Marshal - reports he has two more folk who have
tried heavy and think its fun.
- Archer Marshal - reports archery is going well, but we need
more targets. If any Shireling is in one of the discount stores and
sees the targets of plastic heat shrunk over a Styrofoam core, he requests
you buy a couple. The Shire will reimburse you. Christian has recently
donated one. The Shires thanks, Christian. Marshal also says we
will soon be making specialty targets for some of the common shoots.
- Thrown Weapons Marshal - says they are having a good time,
going to have to make new targets, and the question of whether anyone
under eighteen can
participate in thrown weapons practice has been clarified thusly: if
one parent is in the nearby vicinity, it is permissible. Next weapons
practice in garb is July 3rd. Food of a yet determined sort will be
served in bread bowls. Christian reminds us that this is an opportunity,
as well, to help make the rosaries for the Kingdom gift baskets.
- Castellan - reports four contacts, three from west of the mountains.
Also we have four more folk who wish to play with the Shire, at least
as much as their schedules allow. Castellan says we need more publicity
for the Leather and Lace meetings in Waynesboro on second Tuesdays.
Waine is going to attempt to arrange that.
- Minister of Arts and Sciences (MoAS) - reminds us Handcrafters
is this week. We will be working on the Pennsic wall and heraldry. Next
Fiber Arts will be hand knotting beads, taught by Lucrezia. Njal has
a conflict, so Polyphony that was moved to this Thursday is now canceled.
He reports Waine is now singing, but not with us. He will join us for
events as he can. And we have another member. Polyphony will not meet
in August.
- Dance Master - reports dance is tripping along, but will not
be held the 4th of July. Will be held the 5th instead. The dance demo
for the Piedmont Council on the Arts went reasonably well, thus making
them aware of us.
- Minister of Minors (MoM) - has sent in her letter of intent,
but has heard nothing, suspects it bounced.
Old Business
- Yard Sale again this Saturday. Setup starts at 6:00 a.m.
- Games Tourney is still in limbo.
- Pennsic. In two weeks a letter will arrive from the land office with
information about land and numbers. Toby will contact the Isenlist.
As everyone knows, he is camp cook again this year. He says he will
make every effort to accommodate vegetarians, but would like some ideal
how many will be there. Meal plan is $10 a day. If you arent on
meal plan, there is a $2 camp fee.
- Karen is sewing the Pennsic camp wall, and Toby will see to the rigging.
New Business
- We need a new meeting site for Populace. Christian will ask about
the conference room at her business, and we will discuss the move next
month.
- Activities for A&S will be moving in September...
- Polyphony will be at Njals
- Fiber Arts will be at Annes
- Handcrafters will remain at Rosecroft
Events of the Month
- July - None suggested
- August - Pennsic
Submitted by Dolce dei Bracchi for Lucrezia dei Bracchi.
