Minutes of November 1999 Populace Meeting
November 23, 1999
The meeting was called to order at 7:39pm, in room 328 of Bryan Hall. 9 people in
attendance.
OLD BUSINESS
- Kingdom War Practice in February: Possibly have food for sale, but we didnt
discuss it too much, since Scott was not present.
- 25th Anniversary Event: The Seneschal will write Black Diamond, and see if they want to
go to war over Afton Mountain. We did decide that we would prefer a camping event,
as opposed to a one day event. Trishka, the autocrat, is diligently looking into camp
sites between Charlottesville and Harrisonburg. We will be sending in an event
registration to the Kingdom Chronicler, and we will send in monthly updates as things
progress. The rules about heavy marshals and how to bend those rules are being looked
into. Until we come up with a better name, it will be named Isenfirs Silver
Anniversary.
- University 2000: Anne (the autocrat) has sent in tentative reservations for Cabell Hall,
but will not be able to get anything definite until March or April. The date of the event
is June 3, 2000. Monticello High School and Piedmont Virginia Community College are also
possibilities for the site.
- Piedmont Virginia Community College Demo: Nothing is firm yet, except it will need to be
on a weekday, possibly in February, March, or April of 2000.
NEW BUSINESS
- Minister of Minors: A new office that focuses on the minors of the SCA. Karen Oxford has
offered to fill this position. THANK YOU KAREN!!!
- Duck Race Demo: Trishka brought up the possibility of doing a demo at the annual Duck
Race ending point. It will be at Darden Towe park sometime in May. We decided this would
be a good idea to bring in more people.
- Moving Populace: If student attendance continues to be low, we will probably move
populace to a more accessible location. Or at least one that has easier parking access.
Rosecroft and Trishkas office were both suggested.
OFFICERS
(Herald, Rapier Marshal, and De Facto Heavy Marshal
absent--No reports)
- Chronicler: Isenfairings will be out the first week of December, due to
the holiday.
- Dance Master Extraordinare: We will have Burnley-Moran School for class
until June. Our dance classes will be offered through Charlottesville Recreation and
Leisure in the spring 2000 catalog, so hopefully we can get the word out to more people.
David asked for suggestions on how to make dance class more beneficial. The main
suggestion was to cut down on the number of dances taught at class and concentrate on only
few at each practice.
- Minister of Arts and Sciences: Handcrafters is at lovely Rosecroft
Cottage until further notice.
- Exchequer: $607.71 in the treasury. Revels at the Red Mountain Inn
brought in $170.99.
- Chatelaine: No old business. New business: Demo opportunities that
Trishka is taking care of.
