Revel at the Red Mountain Inn

Now Available -- the Red Mountain Inn Game and Dance Book

DANCING -- GAMBLING -- EATING

... that pretty well sums up the Shire of Isenfir's idea of a good time. We heartily invite you to join us for an afternoon of gaming excitement and an evening of good food and dancing – more dancing than should be legal in one Kingdom.

On Saturday, November 20th, the Shire of Isenfir will host another of its famous tavern revels in the Gothic beauty of Meade Hall. The afternoon will be filled with opportunities to try your hand at the games of chance or to best another at a game of skill at Isenfir’s Red Mountain Inn. There will be Crowns and Anchors, Gluckhaus, Goose, Hazard, cards, betting, a thousand different ways to line your pockets with silver! The fainter of heart may enjoy some less lucrative games, either card, board, or physical (step-knot, whip-top racing, you know the type...), and the greedier may of course feel free to wager upon any of these; the house will oversee it all and make sure everything is on the up-and-up! Or you can simply sit back, order a drink (non-alcoholic), and chat it up with your friends, old and new.  The friendly staff of the Inn will make your stay in Isenfir a joyous and memorable one. If you still possess coins of the realm, please bring them! A hearty feast will follow, prepared by Isenfir's own Toby and crew, masters of "lots of food ... good food ... ready on-time." Then after feast...

DANCING!!! Pavans, Almans, Bransles, Italian Court Dances, and English Country Dances! Anyone who has ever spent more than thirty minutes in Isenfir knows that we like to dance! Okay, that's an understatement. We REALLY like to dance! If you're tired of going to events that promise dancing only to have the feast run late and the dancing cancelled, then COME TO THIS EVENT! Our dance master will see to it that there's as much dancing as you can stand. Maybe more. No masks or other froo froo, just good, old-fashioned dancing, and lots of it. The way it was meant to be.

DIRECTIONS

From the north - Take Rt. 29 south into Charlottesville. Eventually you will pass a Holiday Inn, Krispy Creme, and KFC on the right. You should be in the second lane from the right (not in the rightmost lane). Very shortly thereafter, you will come to an overpass that will direct you to the right and up to stay on 29S/250W, or underneath and up to get onto 250E (bypass). Go underneath the overpass and go up to get onto 250E. Go about 1.6 miles and turn right onto McIntire Rd. Follow directions below for "Once on McIntire Rd".

From the south - Take Rt. 29 north into Charlottesville. Just after passing the "Charlottesville" sign in the median, you will be on an overpass that will direct you to exit to stay on Rt. 29. Do not exit - keep going and you will be on the Rt. 250E bypass. Go about 1.6 miles and turn right onto McIntire Rd. Follow directions below for "Once on McIntire Rd".

From the east or west - Take I64 to exit 124 - Rt 250 WEST toward Charlottesville. Go about three miles and turn left on McIntire Rd (which is the third traffic light after getting onto Rt 250). Follow directions below.

Once on McIntire Rd - Go 0.8 miles to the second traffic (the first light is at a Y - stay to the left there), which is at the intersection with Preston Ave/Market St. Turn left onto Market St. here (the street sign says Preston Ave). Turn left again IMMEDIATELY (it's essentially a really wide U-turn) to go up a hill. You're on W. High St. Take your first right, which is 2nd St NW. The church (the big Gothic stone structure) is on your left - it runs the entire block. You can park along the street here (2nd St NW), or drive down to the corner (Jefferson St), turn left, then go around the next corner (left onto 1st St), and there is a parking lot for the church there on the left. There is also lots of on-street parking all around on 2nd St NW, Jefferson St, and 1st St. There is a funeral home across Jefferson St from the church whose lot we may use unless there is a large funeral going on. The entrance to Meade Hall is on the 2nd St NW side, down by the intersection with Jefferson St.
